Warm up on a chilly day with a cup of this Hot Spiced Apple Cider!
After being outside on a chilly day come in and warm up with a cup of this delicious Hot Spiced Apple Cider! Whether you’re out walking the dog, playing with the kids or doing yard work this easy recipe simmers in your slow cooker so you can enjoy it all day long so you don’t need to worry about it. Plus the longer it simmers the better to let all the spices and fruit blend together!
Not only is this Hot Spiced Apple Cider delish but it smells amazing too! The scent of apple, cinnamon, orange and cloves makes the kitchen smell so good! It’s one of my favorite combinations year round. It’s so homey!
This Hot Spiced Apple Cider is perfect for just a few people or double it up to serve a crowd! I love it for any holiday gathering. Simple add everything to the slow cooker and let it do the work. Once you’re ready to serve simply put it where guests can enjoy along with some mugs, ladle and cinnamon sticks for garnish. Easy peasy and perfect to enjoy all season long! This is perfect not only for any holiday gathering but even into the winter on a cold, blustery day.
Not only is the Hot Spiced Apple Cider easy and delicious it’s so pretty too! I like to stick the cloves in the sliced fruit to prevent them from floating around. Sure you might get one or two that fall out but for the most part they stay in there pretty good.
I also like to add some whole fresh cranberries but I usually don’t add them until I’m ready to serve since they’re there more for a pretty garnish than for flavor so don’t worry if you don’t have the cranberries.
Here’s what you need:
- 1/2 gallon of apple cider
- cinnamon sticks
- whole cloves
- 2-3 clementines (or 1 large orange)
- 1 apple
- ground allspice
- slow cooker
- mugs for serving
- fresh whole cranberries for garnish – totally optional but looks so pretty!
If you don’t have a slow cooker, no worries! You can make this on the stove as well. Just place all the ingredients in a large pot and simmer. I just prefer using a slow cooker so I don’t have to worry about it and it will stay nice and warm all day long!
I love these mugs that are pictured below to serve this Hot Spiced Apple Cider in and guess what, you can find them at Dollar Tree! I’ve searched around all over the place even on Amazon and they have them but they’re obviously not a dollar each. So if you like these mugs check out your local Dollar Tree!
If you want to make this for Thanksgiving or any holiday gathering and your hosting a lot of people simply double the recipe. This recipe makes enough for my family of 4 to enjoy a few cups each. If I was hosting more people I would use 1 gallon apple cider, 3 clementines, 1 large apple, 2 teaspoons whole cloves, 1 teaspoon ground allspice.
I use clementines because I ALWAYS have them on hand with my kids. They eat them like candy so I usually use them but you can use a large navel orange as well.
We featured this recipe last week on on Facebook Live Chat. If you didn’t catch it you can watch it HERE!

- Handful of whole fresh cranberries for garnish, optional
- Pour the apple cider in a slow cooker.
- Stir in allspice.
- Stick cloves in apple slices and place in slow cooker along with remaining ingredients.
- Cover and cook on high for 1½ hours. Reduce to warm or medium to simmer for 1 hour more. The longer it simmers the better.
